The Institute of Engineering and Technology (IET) located in the UK is now trying to find a way to allow people to send a text message from their cell phones to the 999 emergency system. The texts sent that are declared emergent will be passed on to the officials immediately. The institute is working on providing the 999 system in an application for the smartphones.
