Amazon Files Lawsuit Against False Reviews!

Amazon

The top online retailers Amazon is taking action against what they consider to be false product reviews on their website. Amazon filed the lawsuit that targets over a thousand individuals in Seattle, Washington, which is stating that their brand and reputation is at stake. When individuals are being paid to give reviews for products that haven’t actually used and giving it five stars it can lead to false claims being given to less than stellar products out on the website.

Earlier this year Amazon also filed a lawsuit against website they felt were selling fake reviews. Now they plan to take more action against those they feel have been conducting the practice of giving fake reviews. So, how do they plan to go about this, one way is through finding those who did this through websites such a fiverr.com. Although, fiverr isn’t being named in the lawsuit itself, in fact, the website now refuses to take gigs from individuals saying they will do reviews for Amazon online.

Another way in which Amazon is going about finding these individuals is through ISP Addresses, in some cases people have had more then one ISP in order to make more then one false review. But still the burden of proof falls onto Amazon. If someone is doing this but not using more then one ISP, or haven’t put themselves out there as doing reviews how will Amazon find them? For that matter how can they prove that an individual didn’t actually own the product they are reviewing. Perhaps one way for Amazon to take care of this once and for all is to block individuals from reviewing a product unless they have purchased the item at Amazon.
