Carmelo Anthony Considers Olympic Return

Despite still recovering from his February knee surgery, the Knicks’ Carmelo Anthony has announced his intention to attend the Olympic Team USA basketball minicamp in Las Vegas this August 2015. Although Anthony has not yet confirmed whether or not he has fully committed to the 2016 Team USA roster, his appearance at minicamp is a clear indication his injury has not completely deterred an Olympic return.

Anthony has dutifully represented the United States in three Olympic appearances, helping Team USA secure one bronze and two gold medals. Due to his ongoing knee rehab, Anthony will not be able to participate in all the minicamp activities, but has been able to do some light shooting and non-contact drills as part of his current rehabilitation. Director of USA Basketball Jerry Colangelo told ESPN,

“It’s going to be low key. Light workouts, no contact and then play an all-start game.”

The Knicks have gone on record as supporting Anthony’s minicamp involvement.
