After Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump’s offensive remarks toward Mexican immigrants, NBC Universal has severed ties. The network cancelled coverage of the Miss USA pageant, which Trump partially owns.

NBC announced the end of their business relationship with Trump, implying that he will no longer appear on the show “Celebrity Apprentice.” The seventh season of the show saw significantly more success than the sixth season. While the sixth season had about 4.9 million viewers and a rating of 1.6, the seventh season had about 6.2 million viewers and an average rating of 1.9. However, Trump will no longer be participating in the show.

In his presidential launch speech, Trump referred to Mexican immigrants as “rapists” and “drug dealers”. He promised to secure the Mexican border by making Mexico pay for the construction of a giant wall. Although he claims these remarks were taken out of context, the widespread outrage at his statements has lost him the support of many, including Chilean actor Cristian de la Fuente. The “Devious Maids” star withdrew from hosting the Miss USA pageant, calling Trump “ignorant” and a “clown”.

The Spanish-language broadcaster Univision has also cancelled coverage of the pageant. Trump plans to sue Univision for breach of contract, has requested the resignation of the network’s head, and has banned all Univision employees from visiting his golf resorts.
