Eight people were shot in Wednesday night at a balck church in S.C., Charleston.

The congregation calls itself “the most established AME church in the south” on its site. It holds a Bible study session each Wednesday beginning at 6 p.m., the site says.

The congregation’s pastor, Clementa Pinckney, is a Democratic, from the state Senate. He was in the congregation at the season of the shooting, a Democratic assembly part told the Post and Courier. He has not been affirmed as one of the casualties.
