The third season of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. will premiere on September 29 at 9 p.m. EST on ABC and there will be some major changes.

S.H.I.E.L.D. Director Phil Coulson and his protegee Skye have a plan to put together a team of super-powered people to help the newly reformed S.H.I.E.L.D. protect the Earth. With meta humans, mutants, Inhumans, extra-dimensional beings, aliens, enhanced heroes and villains, etc. appearing in greater numbers, S.H.I.E.L.D. needs operatives just as special, just as extraordinary, to deal with threats to public safety who can lift cars, walk through walls, transmogrify, read minds, and fly. The show’s star, Clark Gregg, says this team will be called the Secret Warriors.

Variety says that during Season 3 of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. there will be new characters on the show inspired by the Secret Warriors group from the comics. Made up of people from the “Caterpillar Initiative” from across the world, the Secret Warriors are less likely to be caught or compromised by the bad guys because until now they’ve stayed safely hidden below the radar. However, S.H.I.E.L.D. isn’t the only group looking for the new Inhumans. The article in Variety also included a promotional poster, with the phrase Secret Warriors superimposed over the show’s logo.
